As a corridor utilized for various recreation activities and community events, the availability of bicycle and pedestrian facilities is important. The Bayfront Parkway Study will inventory existing facilities and identify potential missing links in the bike/ped network and identify potential safety improvements.

Currently, the following connections across the south side to the north side of the Bayfront exist:

• West – Greengarden Blvd; 8th; and 6th
• Central – Waterworks; Sassafras; State; and Holland
• East – 6th; 8th; 10th, and 12th

Currently, a pedestrian/bike path is being constructed on the south side of the Bayfront connecting western city communities to Liberty Park. This path will also connect to existing path located along the Bayfront Parkway. Access from the communities on the bluff is currently limited in the area between Liberty Street and State Street, and Holland Street to E. 6th Street. Future planned projects may include a switch-back trail from Front Street to the Bayfront near the Erie Water Works crossing.
